9/26/06:

  •   Sorry for the late posting for the Board Meeting.  The post was actually loaded onto the website on Friday, but a software or operational error prevented all the files from being loaded.  It definitely explains the low turn-out.  All homeowners with valid and operational e-mail addresses were notified of the meeting.

  •   Recap of Board Meeting will be posted under news along with a copy of the budget within the next day or two.

  •   The following positions are available to be filled:  President, Treasurer and Secretary.

9/04/06:

  •       The association received a feedback e-mail that was asked to be posted.  The Association rarely answers anonymous emails because we question the authenticity of the email, but this is an exception since many of you may have the same question:

  "Name:
Comments:
Can you please print on this site, what business it is of anyone if people want
to fix their homes or not. If people pay for their homes it is no ones business
what they do.
Just curious because I was reading the new announcements and it seems like some
people are worried about what others are doing. Thanks for the answer."

Thanks for the email. The main purpose of the Association is to help protect home values.  This website provides a lot of information on to why the Association is important and attempts to answer many frequently asked questions about the Association.  A review of all the "Announcements" would show that the storm damage was addressed beginning March 25, 2006.  Please take the time to review the "Declaration of Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions" of the Association and pay particular attention to sections 6.22, 6.23 and 6.6.

  •   Please check back for the date and time of the Annual Board Meeting.

9/02/06:

  •   Thanks to those that completed their storm repairs or are making arrangements to complete.  Those homes that have not contacted the Association and/ or have not made any attempt to repair damage will be given 30 days to comply.  Failure to comply will result in fines against that homeowner.  The City Code Enforcement Department will also be notified.

  •   There will not be a Community Party this year.  Schedules and resources did not permit.  Hopefully we can do it next year.

  •   The Annual Board Meeting is coming up soon.  All Association Members are encouraged to attend.  You will be notified by postal mail or e-mail to the date and time.

8/06/06:

  •   Reminder letters sent out this week in regards to rectifying any storm damage.  All repairs must be completed by 9/01/06.

  •   If there happens to be a home on the market on your block, please put a little extra effort to keep things neat and orderly.  Our goal should be to get new occupants in homes sooner than later.

  •   The Association has decided to re-sod the area where 3 trees were removed due to storm damage on the corner of 91st Crescent and Zane.

  •   Prairie Restorations will be around on August 7th to manually cut the grasses and weeds around the pond.  They will also do an assessment to what may be needed to improve the aesthetics.

  •    The Association may need to remove 4 to 5 trees that have died along the north side of the pond.

  •   Inquiries are being made to see if the County can fix the storm run-off outlets on the pond.  It appears the retention rocks are preventing the proper use of the retention pond.

7/29/06:

  •   Reminder:  all storm damage from last fall must be completed by Sept 1.  Reminder letters will be sent out to those properties who have not shown any progress.

  •   There appears to have been some mischief around the neighborhood a couple of weeks ago.  This is just a reminder to lock your car doors if you leave your vehicle outside; make sure you keep your garage door closed; do not store items on your driveway that you might not want to lose.

  •   The Annual Board Meeting will coming up soon in September.  There will be positions being vacated due to term expirations.

  •   National Night Out is this Tuesday. Take some time and walk around your neighborhood and chat with your neighbors.

6/25/06:

  •   The city noise ordinance is from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.  All efforts should be made to respect your neighbors in regards to barking dogs, fireworks, loud vehicles, and social gatherings.

6/19/06:

  •   Follow up emails and letters sent out regarding storm damage and outside storage.  The Association is asking for updates regarding from specific addresses.

6/11/06:

  •     One exterior screen structure was approved for 9101 Woodhall Crossing

  •     Letters and emails were sent out to remind homeowners that backup to Zane and 93rd that it is their responsibility to keep the grass mowed up to the sidewalk or the middle of the ditch line.

5/28/06:

  •        Mailbox updates are now complete.  Please keep an eye on the adhesive address numbers.  The mailbox was redesigned and we did not anticipate the eagle emblem interfering with the number placement.  If you lose a number, notify us and we will get a new number affixed to your mailbox.  If it becomes a big problem, we may need to switch to a smaller style number.

  •     Please keep the mailbox area clear of newspapers and mailers.  It always a good idea to pick up your mail in a timely manner to avoid the perception that you are away from home.  If you are going to be gone for long periods of time, let a neighbor know so your mail can be picked up and the newspaper slot can be kept clear.

  •     The Association would like to thank the volunteers that gave up two precious Saturdays to get the mailbox project completed.  It is volunteer efforts like this that keep your dues low.

5/19/06:

  •   The city has mandated odd-even sprinkling to take effect May 1 through September 30.

  •   The city has also asked that all storm damage be addressed ASAP.  Please fill in any holes, remove roots, stumps and debris.  The association has given you until Sept 1. but it appears the city might want it completed sooner.

  •   There were four requests submitted to the ACC.  Two structures were approved and two requests for exterior storage were not and were forwarded to the Board for further review.

5/11/06:

  •   Mailbox replacement has been postponed due to weather.  Tentatively rescheduled to Saturday, May 27.

5/9/06:

  •     Mailbox replacement begins this weekend.  Seven posts will be replaced due to damage and rot.  There may be a delay on some post replacement due to availability of supplies.  All posts will be stained with a new color since the old tint is no longer available.

  •      Due to recent activity, it is necessary that the board appoints members for the Architectural Control Committee.  We are looking for 5 volunteers from each street in the neighborhood to participate on the committee.  The committee meets an average of 4 times a year with the majority of the meetings during spring and summer.  If we do not get any volunteers, we will appoint members from the neighborhood to represent the committee.  Please contact us via e-mail or by calling 763-391-2441 if you are interested in volunteering.

4/21/06:

  • Below is a good lead for mature trees at good prices if you are looking to replace one that was downed by the storm.  Sounds like you can select your tree and they will come out and plant it for you.  Three homes on Yates Bay Court will be getting trees within the next few days.

4/16/06:

  •   Need a stump removed, get a free quote from Martin's Stump and Tree Removal--Matt Martin, Owner/Operator, 12 yrs of experience, 763-226-7455

  •     Mailbox and post renovation will be on Saturday, May 13th.  This is all done by volunteers in neighborhood.  We still need 2 to 6 folks to help with staining the posts and affixing house numbers to the new boxes.  We will begin early Saturday morning with the goal of being done in a few hours.  If you are not available on the 13th but are willing to help with affixing new numbers to the new mailboxes, we can arrange something.  Please contact us no later than May 6th if you are able to help out.

  •   Reminder that all waste and recycling containers must be stored out of public view.

  •   Do you have an outdoor building project that you want to do this year?  The Architectural Control Committee is waiving the $100.00 review fee until June 30th.  You can drop your plans off with any board member so they can be reviewed.

  •   The winners of the drawing for the free 2007 dues is the Schmaltz family.

4/14/06:

  •   Prairie Restorations is scheduled to burn around the ponding area sometime within the next week.

  •   A member asked for more information regarding the shed proposal.  Perhaps another attempt will be made to pass the shed proposal at a later date.

4/10/06:

  •     Prairie Restorations is close to doing the burning around the ponding area at 93rd and Zane.  We will let you know the exact date as soon as we are notified.

  •     An inventory of the mailboxes and mailbox posts showed that we will need to replace about 7 posts due to rot or damage.

  •      We are looking at finding a tree vendor to supply the neighborhood with trees at discounted rates.  We are hoping to find mature trees to help replace the ones that were lost during last year's storm.  The Association is also looking at a rebate program for those members that lost trees in their front yards.  This would be an incentive to replace the downed tree with a mature tree and restore the beauty of front yard landscape.

  •     We are looking for someone to remove the stumps from the three trees that belonged to the association on the corner of 91st Crescent and Zane.  If anyone knows of someone who is affordable, respected and insured, please let us know.

  •     Letters were sent out to members that did violate the Section 6.11 of Covenants last year as an attempt to be proactive for 2006.

4/03/06:

  •     The city will begin flushing fire hydrants Monday, April 24 through Saturday, April 29.

  •     Spring cleaning officially begins in Brooklyn Park the week of April 16.  Please take time to pick up trash that has collected during the winter months.  Those properties that border Zane,  93rd avenue and the ponding areas, have a little more work to do.

3/25/06:

  •     There are still 5 members that have not paid their dues for 2006.  One last attempt will be made to collect   in person.  If the last attempt is not successful, a lien will be placed against these properties.

  •     A letter is being sent out to members that violated the Storage Covenant 6.11 last year in effort to prevent further violations.  The Board agreed to strictly enforce this section this year.

  •     An inventory of downed trees in front yards will be taken within the next few weeks.  The Board is discussing different proposals for tree replacement requirements.

  •     If you have storm damage, you may be asked to give a status update on repairs.  The association is expecting all properties to be restored to pre-storm condition by 9/1/06.

3/10/06:  Did you know?

  • There is still a parking ban on city streets until April 15 from the hours of 2 a.m. and 5 a.m. per city ordinance.
  • There is no outside storage of boats, trailers or recreational vehicles without the consent of the Board.
  • Spring is the most popular time of year to clean out garages.  Garage sales need a permit from the city.
  • It is a city ordinance that you cannot leave your trash or recycling containers out in public view.

§ 98.14  STORAGE OF GARBAGE REFUSE CONTAINERS.

Garbage cans and other garbage and refuse containers must be so located as to be out of the public view insofar as possible.

5/16/05: To Our Homeowners

HOA Board Of Directors Positions Open:  We have two HOA Board Of Director positions opened up and we need interested volunteers. We need to fill the Secretary and a Members At Large position. The duties are pretty simple and is a great way to get involved in your community. If you are interested and need more information, please call 763-391-2441 and leave a message.

Mowing: If your property backs up to either Zane or 93rd, you are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the area along the boulevard.  Perhaps neighbors could take turns mowing?

Architectural Permissions Deadline: Remember the deadline for waiving the $100 plan review fee ends on June 1.  So get your plans submitted to the Architectural Control Committee.

Leaving Phone Messages: Please note, when leaving messages on the hotline, please leave your phone contact information for your home and not your work.  Your employer may not appreciate you conducting personal business on their time. Your continued communication and feedback have been great.

5/15/05: No Pond Burning This Year!!!

We got a call from Prairie Restorations saying that that the permitting process at the DNR has gotten so slow and they feel they will not get a permit before the pond area is too green to burn.  As a result, they are proposing that we delay the burn to next spring.  They have scheduled a meeting with the DNR to come up with a way of keeping this from occurring next year but they think this year is a loss.

They did drive by and look at the pond and they feel that in addition to burning, the area needs "management."  They are sending us details of what they will do and the rates for this work.  We will discuss their proposals in the next board meeting and let you know what's decided.

4/18/05: Pond Burning

Note that this event has been canceled for 2005!

Homeowners Living next to the Pond

Within the next two weeks, Prairie Restorations will be coming to burn off the dead material around the pond in your back yard.  In the interest of good wetlands management it is recommended that the dead materials be burned off every few years.  We will have contacted the homeowners next to the pond for notification of the burn all the way around the pond so it looks consistent and grows evenly.  Be assured that Prairie Restorations is probably the most knowledgeable and experienced company in they area and they are fully insured and will get all the necessary permits for the burn. If you have any questions please call us immediately at 391-2441 or email us at admin@pondsofedinburgh.org.
